Compressor FiltersThe ideal emplacement position of the filter dryers should be a place that enables the suspension (holding) of the moisture from the system before passing to the cool side. Thus, the filter dryers are usually placed at the fluid line before the expansion valves and the capillary tubes.
Intake line filter-dryers are mostly deployed after the hermetic compressor combustion to protect the new compressor. These filter dryers can be deployed at the system either temporarily or permanently. The temporary ones are often mounted in the system for a couple of hours a week and then demounted because the dirt can quickly block the unit and can frequently effect the flow capacity. Some manufacturers advise the temporary filters to be replaced by permanent filters that hold solid dirt.
You must be aware if the system is suitable for a pressure drop at the filter dryers. By mounting a discharge manifold to the intake line service valve, the pressure drop can be measured.
